Climbing Shadows

Oct 1, 2026

Back River Georgtown, ME

When consciousness reaches a limit
it seeks another limit, another limit, another...
ascending by degrees of embrace...
brief periods of rest between...
embrace - meaning how much it can
include of Reality...
ascending - by curiosity and questions and answers
to the Limitless it ascends
which it never reaches
though it has never been separate from it...
to be separate from it would be
to be separate from itself...
you are not just in a relationship with Being
you are Being being with itself...
Being creates form for fellowship
to enjoy itself in your enjoyment...
consciousness seeks it, for it is its child
it itself is the Face of that Intelligence
this 'upward' movement
is God seeking God
or the Infinite returning to the Infinite
consciousness recognizing its home
amid the shadows of form
like the moon on many waters...
a myriad of waters mirror the same moon
yet moon is moon, water is water...
if you wish to know the Moon
not as fact but presence
not as thought but intimacy
not as belief but lover
see its Qualities all about you
inscribed in the shapes and colors of this world
yet, do not stop there...
when you walk, the sun casts a shadow -
form is shadow, the one Sun -
climb the shadows, getting as close as possible to God
yet, know, the closer you get
the less God looks like the God you once knew
as subtle leads to subtle
and the elements melt
in the Light of the One Eye of Wisdom
on the way
the search will lose its intensity
and it will become playful
and you will jump into the Fire
and burn with the burning
which you have longed for
before you recognized the longing
among forms, which could not satisfy,
was your yearning for Pure Spirit
God beyond God
not contained in religions, rites, and teachings -
and along the way, you grow in closeness
with what led, in the first place,
to the pursuit of Grace
